Angylocalyceae. На основании морфологических и молекулярных данных показана целесообразность выделения из трибы двух подтриб:
Angylocalycinae и
Castanosperminae. Приведены ключи-определители для подтриб и родов, входящих в трибу.

Name in english: ON NEW SUBTRIBES OF THE TRIBE ANGYLOCALYCEAE (FABACEAE, PAPILIONOIDEAE)
Abstract in english: Angylocalyceae Yakovl. (
Fabaceae, Papilionoideae) is a small tribe comprising 5 genera and about 20 species of tropical woody plants:
Angylocalyx, Alexa, Castanospermum, Xanthocercis, and
Uleanthus. The tribe has a number of morphological synapomorphies, such as cauliflory, ornithophilous flowers with large calyx and hypanthium, yellow or orange corolla with a standard clearly distinct from the other petals which are almost identical. The members of the tribe occur in tropical Africa and South America. A monotypic genus
Castanospermum grows in Australia and Pacific islands. The tribe was described by G.P. Yakovlev and initially attributed to
Caesalpinioideae, but later placed back to the subfamily
Papilionoideae. R. Polhill considered this group as one of the eight informal groups in the tribe
Sophoreae s. l. - «Angylocalyx group». On the base of comparative morphological and molecular genetic analysis of the basal papilionaceous genera, we have revealed the tribe
Angylocalyceae to be a non-monophyletic taxon. On the consensus phylogenetic tree, about 10 clades can be distinguished. The members of
Angylocalyceae are distributed between the two clades (I and II), clade I including the genera
Angylocalyx and
Xanthocercis, clade II including the
Alexa and
Castanospermum. This division is consistent with the known data on the chemical composition and wood anatomy of these genera. The genus
Uleanthus, despite the lack of molecular data, can be confidently referred to the
Angylocalyceae as a sister group to
Alexa and
Castanospermum. Based on these results, we propose to subdivide the tribe
Angylocalyceae into 2 subtribes:
Angylocalycinae (Yakovl.) Povydysh comb. nov., including the genera
Angylocalyx and
Xanthocercis, and
Castanosperminae Povydysh subtrib. nov. with the genera
Alexa, Castanospermum and
Uleanthus. Keys for determination of the subtribes and their genera are given.
